I.C.A.N. Help Children in Israel
The Israel Children's Aid Network (I.C.A.N.) was created to help needy children in Israel who face many challenges such as hunger and malnutrition, housing, inadequate medical care, lack of educational opportunities and the need for services for disabled children and victims of child abuse and neglect.
ICAN only selects agencies in Israel that are well established and respected institutions with a reputation for excellence. As a prospective donor, you can view videos (see below) about each of our I.C.A.N. Beneficiary Agencies -- and You Select which of the agencies you would like to support with your donation. Just "click" on the donate button directly below the organization's video and 100% of your donation will go directly to the agency you have chosen.

THE MALKI FOUNDATION
Keren Malki's work is based around the idea that no place is better for a child with special needs than that child's own home. Helping to enable that to happen is what drives our activities, day after day.
The challenges facing a family with a seriously disabled child are not simple. Neurological disorders, severe illness and developmental problems in childhood change the lives of all concerned: the child, the parents, the siblings and - in some ways - the society around them.
Experience shows that such families are rarely in a position to stand up to these challenges without sustained, targeted help.

SUSAN'S HOUSE
Susan's House was established in 2002, in memory of Susan Kaplansky. Susan dreamed of helping youth through art.
"At Risk" teens, ages 15 to 18, learn how to make beads, glass plates, necklaces, bowls and other decorative items which are then sold worldwide. The teens at Susan's House work under the guidance and instruction of adults, including some of Israel's most popular artists. They are not only trained for a potential career, but are also taught skills that allow them to create and follow their own business plans. The hands-on experience - coupled with personal attention and therapeutic support helps develop a sense of self-worth and teaches essential life skills needed to find their place in society.

RABBI AVRAHAM GOLDSTEIN
DIRECTOR - YESHIVA OF HIGHER EDUCATION OF SOLDIERS - MT. ZION CENTER
The Yeshiva of Higher Education of Soldiers is located on Mt. Zion in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Yeshiva (a school of Jewish learning) provides advanced religious training and support to IDF soldiers. Among the activities of the Yeshiva are: 1) Mt. Zion Study Days on Jewish Heritage; 2) Guidance in Marriage Laws and Preparation; 3) Prayer Services and Training; 4) Access to a Library of Sacred Books; 5) Employment Counseling After Discharge; and 6) Emergency Food, Clothing, and Support Services.
The Yeshiva is committed to providing support services to IDF soldiers. Many young soldiers in Israel are away from their families for the first time. The Yeshiva wants to act as an extended family to young soldiers where they feel welcome and "at home". Some soldiers are alienated from their families because of their decision to join the IDF. Others come from situations of extreme poverty and send all of their income back to the family. These soldiers may lack adequate clothing and funds for food and transportation. All IDF soldiers are welcome to participate in Yeshiva programs and activities.

CHILDREN'S HOME
Achuzat Sara is a warm, supportive, year-round home for approximately 140 children, ages 6-18. Here, they have
the opportunity to “smile and be educated”, to grow up in a family environment with a sense of belonging
and develop self-confidence, while growing, flourishing and progressing towards a better future.
The children are referred by the welfare authorities after having been removed from their homes in the belief that an out-of-home placement will be beneficial
to them, both now and in the future.

Israel Association for Child Protection - ELI
DR. HANITA ZIMRIN
FOUNDER & CHAIRPERSON
ISRAEL ASSOCIATION FOR THE CHILD
The Israel Association for Child Protection (ELI) is recognized by the Government of Israel and other human service agencies as the only organization in Israel that deals specifically and exclusively with all of the various aspects of child abuse. The organization works tirelessly to increase awareness of the problem by educating the public at large, by training professionals, by lobbying policy decision makers, and by providing vital information to potential victims and parents -- all to enhance ELI's ability to provide assistance.
ELI's staff of professionals and specially trained volunteers are unique to their approach, offering a single-point-of-entry to comprehensive services. Families receive therapy, legal counseling, shelter and whatever other support services are needed without having to go from agency to agency. Thus, ELI complements other human service agencies in Israel by providing a totally coordinated spectrum of services, not only to children who have been abused or neglected, but also to adults who were childhood victims of abuse and to abusive parents who need help to overcome their problem. Individual, group and family therapy sessions are offered throughout Israel.

Yemin Orde Youth Village is located in the Carmel Forest region of northern Israel, just outside Haifa. It is home, school and safe haven to 430 at-risk youth from Ethiopia, the former Soviet Union, France, Eastern Europe, Brazil and Israel. Most of the youth at Yemin Orde have experienced trauma: from abandonment and isolation to family dysfunction, violence and extreme poverty. With the help of the Village's successful educational methodology, called the Village Way, its dedicated team of educators, and a deeply sensitive approach to living and learning, fragile teens thrive and develop confidence, strong cultural identity and the belief in a bright future as productive citizens of Israel.
Yemin Orde is a forever home and its graduates remain connected to the Village throughout their lives, receiving a wide range of services, including scholarships and emergency financial support. Graduates serve as important role models and mentors for fragile youth at the Village. Their achievements are evident in a variety of professions in Israel including law, healthcare, technology, the military, politics, the arts and more. Visit yeminorde.org, email info@yeminorde.org, or call 202-237-0286 to learn more or plan a visit to the Village.

TO BE SELECTED SHORTLY
Ben Shemen is more than just an educational institution. Since 1927, we have impacted thousands of lives. Ben Shemen is renowned for its long tradition of student centered education. Our graduates have gone on to become prominent contributors to society both in Israel and abroad. We are proud to include among them new immigrants from the world over.
Currently Ben Shemen is home to more than 400 children and youth ages 6-21. Ben Shemen as a home to its children and youth residents provides for all of their needs – a bed, meals, individual support, social and educational enrichment and more. However, the village is more than just an educational institution. From the youngest child in our children’s home, to our graduates currently serving in the IDF.
The four hundred twenty children living in the village include 60 normative children ages 6-12 who have been removed from their parent’s care for various reasons by the Ministry of Social Welfare, and placed in the Ben Shemen’s Children Home. For many, Ben Shemen becomes their home year round. The population of the boarding school, 360 12-18 year olds not only includes native Israelis but also immigrants from the FSU and Ethiopia, and youth from France who choose to attend high school in Israel.
Notable graduates include Shimon Peres, Shulamit Aloni, Moshe Katsav, Dan Ben Amotz, Micha Tomkiewicz, Amitai Etzioni, and Haim Saban.
